Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois says Sunday’s clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge is a must win for the Blues to maintain their title challenge.

The Blues trail league leaders Manchester City by nine points going into the clash and need a win to keep up the pace with Pep Guardiola’s high-flying side.

Chelsea collapsed to a 3-0 defeat against Roma in Italy on Tuesday and Antonio Conte was furious with his side’s lack of commitment at the Stadio Olimpico.

It was at this point last year that Chelsea embarked on a 13-match winning run and Courtois says the Blues need a win on Sunday to stand any chance of retaining their title.

‘If we want to remain near the top of the Premier League then it is a must win game for us,’ said Courtois.

‘I think City is at nine points [ahead of us], United is at four. Tottenham is just one in front but this game is a must win if you want to remain near the top and near the other teams.

‘We will try to get three points and give our lives for it on Sunday.’
