Liverpool travel to London on Saturday evening to take on West Ham in the Premier League on the back of two wins in a row.

The Reds take on a Hammers side in serious trouble in the league, sitting in 16th, but on a slight high after a following up a 3-2 win against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup with a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

Both sides are struggling at the back to keep out the opposition, but after two clean sheets in a row, Jurgen Klopp will be praying his back four has reclaimed some of their confidence.

Despite a host of injuries in midfield, Klopp has some decisions to make. Most notably, whether to start Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the first time in the league and whether to recall Daniel Sturridge.

DEFENCE

Simon Mignolet is set to come back into the starting eleven as Klopp’s No.1 goalkeeper in the league.

Liverpool’s defence is still a shambles, but there’s very little Klopp can do it about it with the players at his disposal. Dejan Lovren could come back into the fold which would push Ragnar Klavan out of the side, presuming the Croatian is actually injured and not just taking a break from the pressure.

Both are equally error-prone so it will neither improve or worsen a fragile defence. Full-backs seem pretty nailed on at this stage with Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez the first choice options in the league.

Georginio Wijnaldum requires a scan on his ankle, which means he is probably ruled out of the Hammers game.

Jordan Henderson should reclaim his spot after Klopp (attempted) to rest him against Maribor, while Emre Can is also certain to start.

Klopp should consider dragging Roberto Firmino back into midfield. Liverpool look better with the Brazilian behind the striker. They came out much improved in the second halves against Huddersfield and Maribor and in both games, Firmino dropped further back in the second period.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is still settling at Liverpool, but after all the praise Klopp gave him before and after the Maribor game, the German seems ready to hand him his first start in the league.

The Englishman has been far from stunning in his first few months at Anfield, but will feel he can do well running at a Hammers side completely devoid of confidence.

Liverpool play with one striker these days and after scoring in consecutive games for the first time since April 2016, Sturridge deserves a recall to the starting eleven.

He played well against Huddersfield, sending Liverpool on their way to an emphatic second half and then came on to score their third against Maribor.

Firmino is playing well upfront, but without the service of Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho, Liverpool are missing a deadly finisher upfront.
