Andreas Pereira joined Valencia on deadline day (Picture: Getty)

Manchester United have informed Andreas Pereira that he may be recalled from his loan spell with Valencia in January, according to reports in Spain.

The midfielder joined the La Liga club against the advice of Jose Mourinho on deadline day in August.

The Brazilian was keen to play first-team football but injuries to Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick means Pereira would have likely accumulated plenty of minutes had he stayed with the Red Devils.

That trio remain sidelined and Mourinho has been forced to field Scott McTominay with Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic his only senior fit midfielders.

United have a recall option on Pereira that – should they activate – they would have to reimburse Valencia some of the fee they paid to get Pereira in the summer.

According to Plaza Deportiva, United have told Pereira it’s a possibility that he will be recalled in January to ease the club’s injury crisis.

United have been paying close attention to the midfielder’s performances and watched him score a fantastic goal against Real Betis last month.
