Arsenal have a better chance of beating Man City than any other side in the Premier League – but they still won’t manage it this weekend.

That’s the verdict of Arsenal legend Paul Merson ahead of the clash at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Gunners boast a decent record against Man City, with four wins, three draws and just one defeat in their meetings over the last three seasons.

But with Pep Guardiola’s side flying, Merson doesn’t think Arsenal will beat them this weekend. But they stand a better chance than most.

‘I cannot go for anything other than a City win given the way they play,’ the former midfielder told Sky Sports. ‘If anyone is going to go there and win, believe it or not, you would go for Arsenal as they play a flamboyant way, they open the game up.’

Merson continued: ‘And if you are going to beat City, you have to have a go. There is no point sitting back and saying, ‘right, let’s try and nick something on the break,’ as they have too many good players who are going to break you open before the end of the game.’

Arsenal go into the match nine points behind Man City.
