Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has been told he can leave the club on loan in January.

The 22-year-old has made just two appearances so far this season and last started for the club last April.

Shaw is fourth choice left-back at the club behind Ashley Young, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is a huge admirer of the defender, while former club Southampton and Everton would also be interested in signing Shaw.

Mourinho insists Shaw could have a long-term future at Old Trafford but he’s told him he can leave on loan in January,a according to the Sun.

Shaw is out of contract at the end of the season but United will activate a 12-month extension clause in his deal to extend his stay until 2019.

Should Shaw go on loan and prove his fitness, United will have to make a long-term decision on his future in the summer and could cash in on him.
