Awkward… (Picture: Sky Sports)

Eden Hazard was seen blanking Jose Mourinho in the moments leading up to Chelsea’s mouthwatering clash with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

United boss Mourinho returned to the club he managed across two spells on Sunday afternoon and made no secret of his determination to beat his former side before kick-off.

The Portuguese was seen waiting beside the tunnel to shake the hand of every Chelsea player before the game and a number of fans spotted Hazard completely ignoring his former boss.

Hazard struggled in Mourinho’s final season at Chelsea and reports suggested the pair fell out towards the end of the manager’s tenure.

Despite the awkward encounter, Eden Hazard heaped praise on his former manager before Sunday’s clash.

He said: ‘When Jose came he tried to make me one of the best players in England and I think he put this in my mind, that it was possible.

‘I started to realise that if I’m playing well in every game I could be one of the best.’
