Jose Mourinho appeared to criticise Chelsea’s defensive tactics in the aftermath of Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Alvaro Morata broke the deadlock with a powerful header in the 55th minute of the Premier League clash and the Spaniard’s goal turned out to be the winner for Antonio Conte’s men.

The Red Devils grew in confidence as the second-half wore on, with a weary Chelsea putting more bodies behind the ball in the dying moments, and Mourinho accused his former side of parking the bus.

Asked about United’s display, Mourinho told Sky Sports: ‘I think they scored the goal in the only period where they were on top of the game.

‘Because, apart from that, the game was even. The game was controlled by us, the game was controlled by them. They had their chances, we had our chances.

‘And with the first goal they found themselves winning and bringing more people to defend but, knowing they defend with a lot of people, we had a go.

‘We changed the direction of our game, created chances to equalise but we couldn’t.’
