Arsene Wenger has personally discussed a potential deal with Ajax for midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to reports.

De Jong, 20, made his first-team debut for Ajax last November and has greatly impressed for the Dutch giants this season, making eight Eredivisie appearances as the side sit second in the table behind PSV Eindhoven.

The Sun suggest Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been alerted to De Jong’s performances and the Premier League trio could be set to battle it out for the youngster.

It’s claimed Wenger and Pep Guardiola have even opened negotiations with Ajax over a move for the Netherlands Under-21 international.
