Manchester City’s official Twitter account has poked fun at Arsene Wenger after he accused Raheem Sterling of ‘diving well’ after Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat at the Etihad.

Sergio Aguero put Pep Guardiola’s side 2-0 in front from the penalty spot after Nacho Monreal bumped Sterling to the ground in the 50th minute, but Wenger believes the Englishman conned officials to win the spot-kick.

In his post-match interview, Wenger claimed, ‘we know that Sterling dives well,’ and Alan Shearer slammed the Frenchman for the comment.

‘There is no way that was a dive and it was a penalty,’ the Newcastle legend said on Match of the Day 2.

‘It’s one thing for Wenger to deflect from his team’s inadequacies, it’s another to question someone’s integrity and be wrong.

‘I think he owes Sterling an apology.’

BBC Sport sent out a tweet linking to Shearer’s comments and City’s account responded in style on Monday morning with the cheekiest of emojis.
