Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of Olivier Giroud after he went down injured in training while on international duty.

The Frenchman collapsed holding his lower right leg and grimaced in agony during a session at France’s base in Clairefontaine.

It’s not yet clear how serious the problem is but Arsene Wenger will be a concerned onlooker with his side involved in the North London derby against Tottenham immediately after the international break.

The striker has three goals for Arsenal this season having been largely used as a back-up option following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette during the summer.

The scare makes Giroud just the latest injury doubt for the North London derby.

Arsenal are currently missing Rob Holding and Santi Cazorla, while Danny Welbeck and Shkodran Mustafi are doubts for the game at the Emirates.

For Tottenham, Harry Winks and Harry Kane have had to pull out of England duty – joining Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris on the sidelines. All four could miss the game with Arsenal, while Toby Alderweireld is almost certain to miss out.

Arsenal host Tottenham on Saturday 18 November.
