Chelsea star Eden Hazard has joked about the close attention he received during the side’s 1-0 defeat of Manchester United at the weekend.

Alvaro Morata headed home Cesar Azpilicueta’s pinpoint cross in the 55th minute at Stamford Bridge and the goal turned out to be the winner as United lost more points on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

In the aftermath of Chelsea’s win, Hazard joked on Instagram that handling his two dogs was a significantly simpler task than dealing with United’s man-marking on Sunday afternoon.

‘Today’s marking in my other day job was a little easier than against Man U!’ the Belgian forward told his followers.

Former United forward Garth Crooks heaped praise on Hazard following his impressive performance against the Red Devils.

‘Eden Hazard did his best against Roma but not even he could energise his team. It was a different matter entirely against Manchester United,’ Crooks wrote in his BBC Sport column.

‘You just know when players are up for it and, from the kick-off, Hazard had every intention of hurting United whenever possible.’
