Swansea striker Tammy Abraham is still desperate to become a first-team regular at Chelsea.

The 20-year-old has scored five goals on loan at Swansea and his excellent form has earned him his first call-up to the England squad.

Abraham was sensational on loan at Bristol City last season and has continued to impress in front of goal in the Premier League.

Chelsea are often criticised for their youth development, opting to sell youngsters on at a profit rather than transform them into first-team players.

But, despite the competition and the history of Chelsea, Abraham insists he is still aiming for a spot in Antonio Conte’s team.

‘My main focus is Swansea but pushing on, my main target is to be in that Chelsea squad,’ he said.

‘It’s not going to be easy, you look at the players that are there, but you have to keep pushing and keep working as hard as you can.

‘I want to show the world what I’m truly made of.’

Swansea may be grateful for Abraham’s goals upfront, but they have been struggling in the league and sit second from bottom in the table.

Abraham’s focus shifts from Swansea to England with two friendlies against Brazil and Germany in the next two weeks.

Gareth Southgate seems to believe Abraham is ready to step up another level, but the attacker admitted in the long run, it will be tricky becoming a regular at Stamford Bridge.

‘Of course it will be difficult,’ he said.

‘You’re playing in one of the best leagues in the world.

‘In the Premier League you’re playing against some of the best defenders in the world but it’s nice for me to have that competition.

‘Gareth (Southgate) is a manager who likes to bring up young talent and that gives us a lot of confidence.’
