Roman Abramovich is looking into a potential rift between Chelsea’s players and Antonio Conte, according to reports.

The Italian surprisingly left out David Luiz for the 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday and simply cited ‘tactical reasons’ as to why the Brazilian was forced to sit in the stands.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea’s billionaire owner has made enquiries regarding Conte’s relationship with his players to see if there is any tension, but is not concerned with how the defender has been treated.

Luiz was dropped for his poor form but reports also claimed that he questioned Conte’s tactics during a training session last week.

‘He has to work really hard otherwise they are on the bench or in the stands,’ Conte said of Luiz after the 1-0 win over United.

The report also claims that Abramovich is taking a more hands-on approach following the resignation of technical director Michael Emenalo on Monday.

Marina Granovskaia, a director who plays a large part in Chelsea’s transfer business, is expected to take on an increased workload following Emenalo’s departure.
