Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester City are the Premier League’s greatest hope in this season’s Champions League.

Five Premier League clubs are involved in this season’s competition and it looks likely that they will all finish top of their groups going into the final group game in December.

However, only two clubs in the competition still have a 100% record – Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City – and Pep Guardiola’s men are playing exhilarating football at home and abroad.

And Ferdinand believes City have the best chance of the Premier League clubs to win this season’s competition.

‘I would have to say Manchester City,’ said Ferdinand, after Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat to Basel.

‘I think they’re the best team up until now at this stage of the season.

‘They have fantastic attacking players [who are] young, hungry and they’re the best equipped.’

City currently hold an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League and face a trip to Huddersfield this weekend.

Title rivals Liverpool and Chelsea play one another at Anfield, meaning City can extend their lead against at least one of those clubs.
