Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand both heaped praise on ‘world class’ Eden Hazard after Chelsea’s 4-0 Champions League victory over Qarabag.

Belgium international Hazard fired the Blues in front from the spot after defender Rashad Sadygov was controversially adjudged to have fouled Willian inside the area.

Hazard, 26, then provided Willian with an assist as Chelsea doubled their advantage before half-time. After the break, goals from Cesc Fabregas and Willian completed the rout.

Speaking to BT Sport after the win, former Liverpool and England midfielder Gerrard said of Hazard: ‘He’s got everything.

‘He scores goals, he creates goals, he’s got vision, speed, he’s direct but his awareness for that little backheel tonight was sensational. That was a little bit of world class in him right there.’

Manchester United legend Ferdinand, meanwhile, added: ‘He’s definitely world class. He’s the reason that Chelsea were winning the league.

‘He’s the reason if they go deep in this competition he’s going to have to play a huge role and do what he did tonight.’

Chelsea’s win ensured they will finish in the top two of Group C with one Champions League fixture remaining. Antonio Conte’s side face Premier League rivals Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.
