Arsene Wenger says Mesut Ozil will take part in a late fitness test to determine if he can take on Huddersfield on Wednesday evening.

The German missed the weekend win over Burnley through illness, though Arsenal hope he has recovered sufficiently to take part in training on Tuesday – the final practice before the visit of Huddersfield.

Wenger will make a late call on whether or not Ozil can play, with the squad largely receiving a clean bill of health save for the German and Alex Iwobi.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Frenchman said: ‘From Sunday’s games, of course we had not Ozil.

‘He has planned to practice again today, we’ll make an assessment after the training session.

‘Alex Iwobi got a kick on his leg, a dead leg, and we’re not sure he’ll be available again.

‘Everyone else should be available.’

Theo Walcott had also missed several matches this season through illness, though Wenger says Ozil’s issue is unrelated: ‘No. no, it’s not a virus no.’

Huddersfield (A) - Sun May 13

After taking on Huddersfield, Arsenal host Manchester United on Saturday in a massive clash at the Emirates, though Wenger insists he will not rest any of his stars in midweek.

Asked how much of an eye he’ll have on the United match, he insisted: ‘Zero eye. The most important game is tomorrow night, no matter what happens after.

‘We have a good chance tomorrow to take three points at home and that is the only thing that matters. I have a big enough squad to deal with the next match after.’
