Sevilla’s chairman has spoken out after it was reported that Steven N’Zonzi had boarded a flight to London.

It’s understood both Arsenal and Everton are expressing a strong interest in N’Zonzi, 28, with the midfielder’s future in serious doubt following a bust-up with manager Eduardo Berizzo.

The Frenchman is believed to have skipped training at Sevilla which only fueled rumours of an imminent return to the Premier League – two years after his last match for Stoke City.

Asked about why N’Zonzi had flown to England, Sevilla chairman Jose Castro explained: ‘His situation is due to a technical issue with the coaches and as with all the technical issues, he can change it.

‘He has travelled to London to visit his son with our permission.

‘There aren’t any offers to sign N’Zonzi. I can’t talk about clauses or prices if we don’t have an offer.

‘We respect the decision of our coaches, he is training with their mates but currently he isn’t playing.’

N’Zonzi’s disagreement with Berizzo reportedly happened when Sevilla were 3-0 down to Liverpool before the side’s incredible second-half comeback.

Former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke man N’Zonzi has a £35million release clause in his contract at Sevilla.
