David Luiz has been training alone in a bid to recover from the knee injury which will rule him out of Chelsea’s London derby against West Ham on Saturday, according to the Evening Standard.

The Brazil international was dropped for the recent 1-0 win over Manchester United following an alleged bust-up with Antonio Conte.

Luiz returned to the side for last month’s victory over Qarabag in the Champions League but has been sidelined ever since with his manager citing fluid on the knee as the reason for his absence.

Conte was angered in midweek when he was pressed on his relationship with Luiz and the legitimacy of his injury, saying: ‘If you don’t trust me that is your problem.’

The 30-year-old centre-half, outstanding in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign last season following his surprise return from Paris Saint-Germain, has been linked with a January move to Real Madird.

Conte has denied those reports but with Andreas Christensen having starred in recent weeks and Antonio Rudiger gradually finding his feet following his summer move from Roma, Luiz’s first team spot is far from guaranteed.

Chelsea travel to the London Stadium for Saturday’s early kick-off but will do so without Luiz who has aggravated an existing knee injury, according to the Standard.
