Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher sent a clear message to Dejan Lovren after the defender was spotted raging at the referee following the Merseyside derby.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for the home side at Anfield, but Wayne Rooney scored his first ever Merseyside derby goal from the penalty spot in the 77th minute of the clash.

Lovren, who brought Dominic Calvert-Lewin down for Everton’s penalty in the second-half, clearly believed the young English striker had dived for the spot-kick.

The Croatian centre-back was seen confronting referee Craig Pawson in the aftermath of the 1-1 draw.

Jordan Henderson and James Milner had to hold Lovren back and Carragher, working as a pundit for Sky Sports on Sunday afternoon, quickly put the defender in his place.

‘Get back in the dressing Lovren 100% pen,’ the former England defender tweeted.

Sadio Mane missed a golden chance to put Liverpool 2-0 in front just before the break, but Carragher defender the forward at half-time.

‘Mane should have passed the ball,’ Carragher admitted.

The brilliant thing mid-week was the unselfishness. I don’t think it’s a case of Mane being selfish, I think he thinks that’s the better thing (to do).

‘That’s the problem Everton have now, they have to push up.’
