Marcus Rashford’s goal against Manchester City made the striker Manchester United’s most effective performer at Old Trafford this season.

The 20-year-old pounced on a succession of mistakes from City to slot past Ederson and level the game 1-1 against City.

The Manchester derby is one of the most important fixture of United’s season, but the home side fell behind after Romelu Lukaku headed the ball into David Silva’s path.

Rashford popped up to punish Nicolas Otamendi and Fabian Delph for missing the ball and scored his sixth home goal this season.

Combine that tally with five assists and Rashford has been involved in eleven goals at Old Trafford.

That is more than any other Red Devil and demonstrates just how important Rashford is for United going forward.

Rashford has also scored three goals away from home and laid on one assist for his team-mates on their travels.

Jose Mourinho placed his faith in Rashford to start up front alongside Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial.

It was an attacking line-up from Mourinho who has often opted to play it safe against the top teams in the league.

But, United need to win or at the very least avoid defeat against City to stay in the hunt for the league title.

City will go eleven points ahead of United in the table should they secure an away win at Old Trafford.
