Mesut Ozil is keen on a move to Barcelona and has not agreed a deal with Manchester United as he is holding out for a decision from the Catalan club, according to reports in Spain.

The Germany international has less than a year remaining on his contract with Arsenal and will be a free agent next summer if he fails to agree a new deal.

The midfielder is also free to negotiate with teams outside of England as from January, while Arsenal may look to sell the player in the upcoming transfer window in order to receive a fee.

According to Sport, Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut met with Barca’s general manager Pep Segura last Thursday to discuss the 29-year-old’s potential switch to Camp Nou.

The report claims that Barca were told that Ozil wants to join them and the midfielder has Arsenal’s permission to leave in the January window.

Mundo Deportivo also reported on Wednesday that Barca have been informed that Ozil’s desire to make the move to Camp Nou is the reason why he has not committed to Jose Mourinho and Manchester United.

Ozil, however, want to know Barca’s decision by the end of December so that he can plan his future.

Barca, meanwhile, are prioritising a deal for Philippe Coutinho and will make a fresh move for the Liverpool midfielder in January.
