Paul Pogba brings another level of quality to Manchester United that the alternative options can’t provide, says his team-mate Nemanja Matic.
It’s a view reflected by Manchester United’s performances in the absence of the French midfielder.
After a brilliant start to the season from the Red Devils, Pogba picked up an injury and without him Jose Mourinho’s team stuttered.
Pogba returned to action after two months out but a red card in the recent 3-1 win over Arsenal means he is suspended for today’s match with West Brom.
Matic spoke of the importance of the club’s most expensive player.
‘He’s a very important player for us, he always brings some extra quality to our team,’ the Serbian told Sky Sports.
‘So of course we miss him, but we also have some very important players to substitute him.’
In his absence, Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini have filled in with Mourinho even turning to youth player Scott McTominay for the midweek win over Bournemouth.
Matic added: ‘Obviously when he comes back, for sure we are going to be stronger because as you know he has a lot of quality and he is very important to the club.’
Pogba is free to return from suspension after today’s game with West Brom.
