Marcus Rashford’s sumptuous cross allowed Romelu Lukaku to head home the opener for Manchester United against West Bromwich Albion as Jose Mourinho’s side took charge.

Working down the left-hand side, the England international whipped in an in-swinging ball with his right boot and Lukaku made no mistake in nodding past Ben Foster to score against his former club.

While Lukaku celebrated his 15th goal in a Manchester United shirt, Rashford bolstered his own statistics this season and he’s already made more of a contribution than in Mourinho’s first season in charge.

His haul of nine goals and seven assists across 27 games all competitions has seen him contribute to 16 goals already.

By contrast, in 53 games last season, he only contributed to 15 (11 goals, four assists).

The 20-year-old is showing clear signs of improvement under Mourinho and is continuing to earn the Portuguese’s trust at Old Trafford.

Jesse Lingard added a second for the visitors with a deflected strike as they assumed complete control at the Hawthorns.
