Jack Wilshere admits Arsenal ‘played with fear’ before mounting an impressive comeback against Liverpool in Friday’s much-anticipated Premier League clash.

Goals from Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah gave the Reds a two-goal lead at the Emirates but Arsenal hit back with three goals in the space of five minutes.

But Arsenal were denied a crucial win when Roberto Firmino found an equaliser 20 minutes from full-time.

Speaking after the entertaining 3-3 draw, Wilshere told Sky Sports: ‘We felt we didn’t do ourselves justice in the first half, we played with fear; we were scared to play our natural game.

‘We allowed them to take the game to us, we had a strong look at ourselves at half-time and improved. We’re disappointed not to win the game but we were much better in the second-half.’

Liverpool appeared to be cruising to an impressive away victory after Salah scored his 21st goal of the season to double the lead.

But Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil all got on the scoresheet with goals that were entirely Liverpool’s own fault, according to James Milner.

He said: ‘When you’re in a position like that, at this level, you’ve got to see the game out.

‘We’ve got to be more boring. All the goals were our fault really. We need to learn from it quickly. It seems to be a theme for us this year.’
