Liverpool suffered an injury blow just ten minutes into Friday’s Premier League clash at Arsenal as Jordan Henderson was forced off.

The Reds captain hobbled down the Emirates tunnel clutching his hamstring after a sprint in the middle of the pitch with Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

Henderson, who has already played 26 games this season, was replaced by James Milner.

The injury could rule Henderson out of the festive period with Liverpool playing Swansea City, Leicester, Burnley and rivals Everton in the next 14 days.

Ahead of Friday’s Premier League showdown, it was Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who admitted concern over the fitness of his squad ahead of the brutal period.

‘We have a congested fixture list which is very demanding,’ Wenger said in his programme notes. ‘Especially because we already have a tough schedule before us.’We have to sit down and analyse very well what we can do. What is very worrying in my job is when you start to lose players, like Giroud on Tuesday.

‘After that, you cannot afford to lose another one. I have to look how I can manage the schedule.

‘It puts more pressure on the rest of the squad when you have injuries, but I still have Alex Lacazette, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Alexis, who can all play up front.’
