Manchester United have opened talks with Bordeaux over a move for Brazilian forward Malcom, according to reports.

Scoring 18 goals in 76 games, Malcom has become a key player for Ligue 1 club Bordeaux since signing from Corinthians in 2016.

The 20-year-old, who plays for Brazil’s youth teams, has attracted attention from a number of European clubs and Arsenal are also said to have sent scouts to monitor his progress.

But Manchester United are leading the race to sign Malcom and are working on a deal to bring him to Old Trafford, according to the Daily Mail.

It is claimed Jose Mourinho, who is keen to strengthen his squad, views Malcom as one of the best young prospects in Europe.

United hope to land his signature and immediately allow him to continue his development at Bordeaux by sending him back on loan.

The French club value their star man at more than £50million but United believe a fee of around £33m represents a fair amount.
