Mesut Ozil is a doubt for Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Sunday but Jack Wilshere could feature, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

German playmaker Ozil has been struggling with a knee injury and missed Wednesday’s Carabao Cup draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

He is touch and go to be available for the trip to Dean Court but Wilshere, who was injured against Chelsea, could play as his injury is not as serious as first thought.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Wenger said: ‘From Wednesday night, Jack was injured but we had good news. I saw him walking yesterday, he’s not yet out of the game on Sunday.

‘We have an uncertainty about Ozil, he will have a test tomorrow, that at the moment is a big 50/50 for Bournemouth.’

Asked about Ozil’s injury, Wenger added: ‘It’s his knee. He had a swollen knee and a recurrence of what he had two or three weeks ago – that’s why he wasn’t involved on Wednesday.’

Wenger will be able to call upon Wales international Aaron Ramsey, however, as he returned to the squad after being ruled out for over a month. Laurent Koscielny, Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal are all closing in on returns.

‘We have Ramsey back in the squad,’ Wenger said. ‘Koscielny next week, Kolasinac next week, Monreal, earliest next week as well. Olivier Giroud is two weeks away.’

Wenger will serve the final match of his touchline ban at Bournemouth and said: ‘I would prefer to be in the dugout of course but I have to respect my ban and fortunately it’s the last game.

‘The second game was not too bad as I was in a fantastic position with the media. You’re quite spoiled.’
