Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out of Manchester United trip as Arsenal ace undergoes scan on knee injury

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not be fit for Sunday's clash with Manchester United amid growing fears he has suffered a serious injury.

The England international was forced off with a knee problem in the second half of Arsenal's 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday following a clash with Javier Mascherano.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will now miss the Gunners' pivotal trip to Old Trafford as he awaits results from a scan on his injury.

There is better news for Arsenal, however, with Arsene Wenger confirming that Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista is in line for a return.

"He [Gabriel] is coming back into the squad tomorrow," Wenger told Arsenal.com.

"So we will see how he responds to that, but the signs are positive. He might be available for Sunday.

"Oxlade-Chamberlain has a scan today, he will not be available for Sunday."
