Arsenal have NOT entered race to sign in-demand Everton defender John Stones, insists Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger has rubbished claims that Arsenal are chasing Everton defender John Stones.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the England international as their injury crisis continues.

However, Wenger has now denied that Arsenal are lining up a bid for the centre-back when the January transfer window opens.

"We are not after John Stones if that's what you want to know, we are focused on tomorrow's game," said Wenger.

"I ask my players to focus on tomorrow's game. I didn't ask the board anything. It's not the board who buys the players.

"We are in December and we will just focus on tomorrow's game."
