Arsenal target plays down Paris Saint-Germain rumours

Arsenal target Daniele Baselli has played down the chance of him moving to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The Atalanta star has made 23 Serie A appearances this season - no mean feat for a 22-year-old who was playing the previous season in Serie B for minnows Cittadella.

The former Italy under-21 star is an all-action midfielder who now has a market value of around £2m. But the interest of PSG and the Gunners could drive his price tag up.

"We always talk about the market, and I think sometimes that can weigh heavily on people's minds," he said.

"I honestly don't know whether to believe these rumours about PSG or not because, for me, they seem a bit far-fetched.

"I am just concentrating on doing well for Atalanta, then we'll see what happens."

Comparisons have been made between Baselli and current PSG midfielder and another Arsenal target Marco Verratti as they are both diminutive centre-midfielders from Italy but Baselli points out there is a key difference in their.

"Verratti?" he said. "It's true he went to PSG at a young age, but he had won Serie B with Pescara."
