Arsenal transfer report: Gunners plotting fresh move for Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi

Arsenal are preparing a January bid for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, according to reports in Italy.

The 22-year-old Argentine was reportedly close to joining the Gunners last summer before Inter rejected a £32m bid.

But now, according to Tuttosport, the Nerazzuri's skipper could leave Serie A in January after he was dropped by Roberto Mancini for the recent 1-0 win over title rivals Roma.

Chelsea and Liverpool are understood to be interested in making an offer but it is Arsenal who are in prime position to land Icardi.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wants to add another forward to his squad in January with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott still struggling with injuries.
