Walcott returns to Arsenal training

Boost for Arsenal! Walcott returns to training after nine months out

Theo Walcott has completed his first full training session for Arsenal following nine months out with a knee injury.

The Arsenal forward has been sidelined since January after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in the 2-0 FA Cup victory over Tottenham, and was forced to miss the entire second half of the season as well as the World Cup Finals in Brazil.

But Walcott made a successful return to training on Monday and will now be hoping to get some match action under his belt and force his way back into the first-team picture.

With club record signing Mesut Ozil facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, the winger's comeback has come at a crucial time for the north London club.

Walcott, speaking in his Twitter site, said: "First full training session after 9 months - feeling good!!"

Striker Serge Gnabry, who has been out since March with a knee problem, also trained on Monday.

Meanwhile, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that Olivier Giroud is recovering well from his fractured tibia.

The 28-year-old France striker suffered the break after netting a crucial late equaliser in their Premier League clash with Everton in August.

"Olivier Giroud is recovering very well," Wenger told beIN Sports.

"I believe he is ahead of schedule in terms of rehabilitation. The operation went perfectly."
