David de Gea exile ‘makes no difference’ to Man United, claims rival boss Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho does not believe David De Gea being jettisoned from the Manchester United starting line-up harms their title chances.

United manager Louis van Gaal dropped the Spanish goalkeeper for the curtain raiser against Tottenham on Saturday that ended with a 1-0 win for the Red Devils.

Sergio Romero was promoted to first-choice keeper on Saturday while the speculation about De Gea's move to Real Madrid continues to rumbles on.

However, Mourinho - who believes his side, United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool are genuine title contenders - does not think the exiling of their number one gives United any disadvantage.

"Manchester United have a fabulous squad," Mourinho said.

"I don't think any player not playing one game or a couple of matches is going to make any difference.

"I look at them as such a strong squad that I don't see a problem."
