Mourinho urges Drogba to prolong his Chelsea playing career

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has urged Didier Drogba to keep playing for as long as he can.

The Ivorian striker rejoined the Blues in the summer, signing a one-year contract after leaving Galatasaray on a free.

It had been thought that the deal was merely a stop-gap before Drogba took up a coaching role at Stamford Bridge.

But after netting four goals this season so far, Mourinho has encouraged the 36-year-old to keep playing - even though a coaching role is on the cards.

"We love him, we want him. He should stop when he wants. Mr Abramovich is very happy to keep him in the club," said Mourinho.

"I don't know Drogba's qualities as a coach because I haven't seen it. That's a new story."
