‘Team player’ Ramires deserved new Chelsea contract, insists Jose Mourinho

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says Ramires earned his new contract through his dedication to the team.

The Brazilian agreed a new deal at Stamford Bridge that will keep him in west London until 2019.

The versatile 28-year-old plays most regularly in midfield but his manager says he would play anywhere for his side.

"He's a group man. He's a player who is ready to play, to be on the bench or in the stands," Mourinho said.

"He is ready to play in midfield, goalkeeper, striker or wherever the team needs him.

"He's the sort of guy that every manager loves and I'm happy the club recognised that he deserved it and everyone is happy."
