Wenger ‘open’ to more signings but insists Arsenal are NOT in for Porto star

Arsene Wenger says he is ‘open’ to making more signings this summer, but has denied reports linking Arsenal with a move for Juan Quintero.

The Gunners have completed deals for Alexis Sanchez,  Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers in recent weeks, but Wenger does not appear to be finished yet.

"I'm very happy because I did what I wanted, and I am still open to do more," said the Frenchman.

"Let's not forget that we are at August 1 today, and the transfer window closes on the 31st. For years, it's a long time I didn't sit with you here on the first of August having done quite a lot.

"We are a bit ahead of what we usually do, because the availability on the market was bigger and earlier than before."

According to reports in Colombia, Quintero is set to be the next arrival at the Emirates, with the winger claimed to be closing in on a £16million move from Porto.

But that was denied by Wenger, who said: "That's wrong. I don't want to give you names but at the moment we are not especially after anyone."

Ruling out a swoop Quintero looks to have enhanced Joel Campbell's chances of breaking through.

The Costa Rican has been linked with a loan move away from the Emirates, with AC Milan said to be among a host of clubs keen on securing his services.

But Wenger wants to keep the 22-year-old after his impressive performances at the World Cup in Brazil.

"Joel Campbell is part of my plans, he might play tomorrow against Benfica," said Wenger.
