Rafael Benitez coy after Pep Guardiola takes Bayern job

Chelsea interim boss Rafael Benitez would not comment on whether seeing Pep Guardiola take the Bayern Munich job enhances his prospects with the Blues.

Benitez, who is in charge of the Blues until the end of the season, was asked if that strengthened his position.

He responded: "Guardiola has gone there and it's good for him. We will try to be ready for our next game."

When asked if there were any ongoing discussions about his future, he replied: "I have to concentrate on the game. You say that we have some problems at home so I will try to concentrate on the game. That is my job."

Chelsea host Arsenal on Sunday, looking to improve on a run of only one win in six domestic matches at Stamford Bridge since Benitez took charge at the end of November.

Benitez was speaking after seeing his Blues side surrender a 2-0 half-time lead in their 2-2 draw with Southampton on Wednesday night, only the third time in 90 matches in the Premier League era that Chelsea had not won a league game after leading by two goals or more at the break.

"We have to be disappointed," said Benitez. "We were winning, 2-0 up in the first half, and we have to manage the second-half in different way.

"We have to have more experience and be more clinical and we have to score the third goal and finish the game. We didn't do it.

"As soon as they pulled a goal, we have to manage the game with experience but we gave them the option to score the equaliser on the counter-attack.

"After that have to push and push but they were well organised and credit to them they did a good job."

Benitez insisted his side do not have a problem playing at home, despite their poor record in comparison to their away form, where they have won their last five matches.

"We scored two goals in the first half and we were winning," Benitez added. "Again the question for me is experience and being more clinical in the second half."
