Arsene Wenger: Arsenal fans sing manager's name during win

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is "thankful" to fans who sang his name as the Gunners returned to winning ways in the Premier League.

Chants of "there's only one Arsene Wenger" rang out at Emirates Stadium as the Gunners overcame Newcastle 4-1.

"Our job is to win football games and when we don't do it I understand when they're not happy," said Wenger.

Arsenal remain 13 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.

But Saturday's emphatic win over Newcastle, days after defeating Galatasaray by the same scoreline in the Champions League, has lifted spirits after frustrations boiled over at Stoke.

"We lost, unfortunately, at Stoke and we feel guilty for that," Wenger added. "But 99.9% it is people with full respect even when they're not happy.

"I can take the 0.1%. Yes, of course, I'm thankful for the fans singing my name at the end of the match. It's very nice to get support from the crowd.

"But the most important for me is to win football games and the best way to make our fans happy is to do that."

France striker Olivier Giroud scored two goals, while Santi Cazorla also netted a brace as Arsenal moved to within two points of fourth spot.

"It's nice to hear the fans supporting the boss and it's a fantastic night for us and we're happy," said Giroud, who doubled his Premier League goal tally for the season.

"It's always the same when you're losing, the first one in front of the criticism is the boss.

"We will always be all together, keep the faith, keep working hard.

"I think there's no thoughts about changing the boss, because he's still the man for the situation."
