Swansea City sign Renato Sanches from Bayern and Wilfried Bony from Man City

Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches has signed for Swansea City on a season's loan from Bayern Munich and the club have also re-signed striker Wilfried Bony from Manchester City.

Swans boss Paul Clement worked with Sanches, 20, during his time as Bayern's assistant manager.

Bony left south Wales for Manchester for £25m in January 2015 and his return on a two-year deal coincides with Fernando Llorente's move to Tottenham.

The fee for Bony is thought to be £12m.

The Ivorian's two-year contract has an option for a further season.

Sanches joined Bayern from Benfica for 35m euros in May 2016.

He made 25 appearances for the German champions last season and was also part of Portugal's Euro 2016-winning squad.

Sanches is away on Under-21 duty and is expected to arrive at the Liberty Stadium next week.

Swansea are thought to have paid a loan fee of around £4m and will also pay most of the midfielder's wages.

Bayern and the player preferred Swansea to several other interested clubs, including Juventus and Benfica.

"He is a player I know well, having worked with him for six months at Bayern Munich," Clement told the club's website.

"He has not played as much as he would have liked. But this move to Swansea and the Premier League will provide him with a real positive development experience."

There is no option in the deal for Sanches' move to be made permanent.

Bony scored 25 Premier League goals for Swansea before his move to Manchester.

He was tracked by the Swans in recent weeks as they prepared for the departure of last-season's top scorer Llorente, who was also a target for Chelsea.

However, Swansea have been unable to sign West Brom winger Nacer Chadli, having refused to meet the £26m asking price.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Mark Birighitti has left Swansea to join Dutch side NAC Breda on a free transfer.

    Little Swansea - where Frank Lampard started his career. Roberto Martinez got us up from league 2 as a player and manager, is now Belgium manager. Rodgers moved on to Liverpool and Celtic. Produced Allen, went on to play for Liverpool and Stoke. Helped to make Taylor into a PL left back. Produced Williams into a good PL centre back. For a little team, were are damn good at producing the goods!

    There are not many transfers that make me say 'wow'. Sanches moving to Swansea is one of those, that is a massive coup.

    Sanches could well be the best signing of the summer, outstanding work to get him in. Bony may be a bit iffy after City wrecked his confidence, but definitely worth the punt. I hope they work out.

    Clement is an excellent coach, & a few quality signings have really given them a lift. No longer thinking they'll get relegated, Cymru am byth!

    I'm not a Swansea fan, but you have to don your cap for this one, great signing. Only 20 but already more successful internationally than anyone who's wore an England shirt in the last 50 years.

    I was a bit worried for Swansea that they were about to bow out on a wimper, but with these two signings I think Swansea will be more than OK.

    Sanches is a real player and will be suited to the Prem and Bon will be like a duck in water when he is back in familiar surroundings.

    Well done Swansea, you have recovered from the USA Bob Bradly experiment/trauma.

    Sanches has enormous potential, but you cant be a first option for Bayern at 19 years of age. Should be a real boost for Swansea.

    Renato Sanches and Grzegorz Krychowiak are both super signings for Swansea and West Brom respectively. About time the so called small clubs got some big name players.

    Can't see Sanches being rated at Bayern however, maybe they've let him join Swansea to make him stand out, which allows them to sell him on for more money next season.

    #44 - so Mesa/Clucas - combined £26M don't count as signings? We already have Naughton/Rangel at RB and plenty of wingers - Dyer/Montero to come back and if we needed a winger why did we sell Barrow? Narsingh may have underimpressed but he's hardly had a run. And the 'loanee' may be one of the best talents in Europe. No Swansea have done some good business although I wouldn't have sold Llorente.

    @51 Agreed!

    Swans have done very well. We were too dependant on Gylfi. We've now got Mesa, Clucas & Sanchez. That's 3 quality players improving midfield and attack.

    Bony for Llorente is pretty much like for like. I'm confident he will get back to form.

    We will definitely not go down.

    I think you will find Sanchez is a good player who wants to join a well run decent club to gain experience and maybe put himself in the shop window next summer for a PL club!! You are an absolute waste of space and should really get a life

    Paul Clement is key for Swansea- he has so many fingers in so many pies and can pull off moves like Sanches- someone who should be playing for Europe's elites.
    Hope he has a stellar season in the prem!

    Surprised Swansea got Sanchez only two season ago tug of war between Man U & Bayern Munich. Could be a great buy for the swans even if its just a loan.

    Sanches could well be the deal of the window. I don't get everyone writing him off based on a season where he at 19 was trying to displace alonso, vidal and thiago in midfield. Wish liverpool would have taken him, he'll be one of the best players in europe with a couple of years regular game time.

    Both are positive signings - big ask for Sanches, as a 20 yr old to come in and replace Sigurdsson (who was immense for the Swans). On the whole, positive move for all involved, Sanches will get to play week in week out, Swansea will get the services of one of the top talents in Europe, Bayern Munich will be able to trial a player on their books in high pressured competitive games.
