Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp endured an awkward end to his Champions League news conference in Moscow, describing one question as a "waste of time".

Klopp, whose side face Spartak Moscow at 19:45 BST on Tuesday, was asked if he was in love with any of his players.

It was a reference to Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino saying he loved striker Harry Kane on Saturday.

"I am really impressed that we're in a Champions League press conference and talking about this," said the German.

"I really don't understand the business any more," Klopp said on Monday, adding the question and his subsequent answer "were not important for Russia".

"It was just an English thing. Pochettino loves Kane and who do I love? That's the question? A waste of time."

Liverpool drew their opening Group E match 2-2 with Sevilla at Anfield, while Spartak conceded a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Maribor.

Fair play to Klopp, the media is full of idiots who no very little of the game and approach it like a celebrity magazine. Pointless questions because they can't think of anything incisive to ask

Well done Jurgen - spot on. When you are compelled to attend these press conferences you want to be talking about real football matters. Just hope the fans get in and out of there safely.

As a Utd fan,so certainly no lfc love from me, why can't reporters ask relevant questions ? Klopp is an intelligent man and manager of a multi million pound football squad, playing a tough champions league away game. Yet that is the best question to be asked of him ? No wonder he talks jibberish sometimes some of the stuff that is asked of managers and players of any team are just utter tripe.

Watch the PC. He did not end it early. He answered what he correctly thought was an idiotic question. The compere had already said it was the last question for him before Karius came out and Klopp left. This is the BBC?? Poor poor journalism i'm afraid

Is this even worth an article let alone a HYS? Meanwhile the US and North Korea are getting ever closer to bringing this world into nuclear war and we're not allowed to voice our opinions on that....

I actually watched the press conference (I know, I need to get out more) and Klopp didn't cut it short. On the last question (about loving players), he simply said to the Russian interpreter that the question was a "waste of time" for her to translate for the Russian media as it was a question for the English press. Rubbish journalism from the Beeb Happening all to often it seems.

@12 got to agree with you. The BBC give us HYS on trivial matters and then no HYS on the more interesting matters - e.g Celtic v Rangers at the weekend. I dont know who decides on what deserves HYS, but for me they are doing a poor job.

Agree absolutely with Klopp reaction to a dumb journalist question. A CL press conference is not a place for stupid question a which delates a fault of respect toward Klopp.

I don't blame him for walking out, it was a daft question. Almost as bad as one manager who was asked at a press conference if Lionel Messi was an alien. Can't remember who now.

It wasn't funny and I'm not sure anyone could even answer it in an amusing way. ("I love my wife and I train my players"? - exactly, no one is falling about laughing.)

It's like something a six year old would ask.

He didn't "cut it short" at all. It was the final question. And his waste of time remark was to the Russian translator who was confused - he was telling her not to worry about it.

For some reason the BBC is trying to make a drama out of it.

Basically the BBC set a HYS about anything involving Liverpool because they know that we will all respond, and that the United fans will all respond - meaning hundreds of meaningless posts!

Totally agree with klopp and im not a liverpool supporter. That journalist already had his headline planned in his head before asking the question. Why not ask questions and interprut what klopp shares without trying to put words in his mouth. Klopp is a great chatacter and a great mind. You will get great insight by asking relevant questions. But thats too much like hard work. The tmz generation
