Manchester City Women maintained their 100% record this season with an emphatic away win over LSK Kvinner in their Champions League last-16 tie.

Demi Stokes fired them into the lead and Isobel Christiansen scored from the spot after Jane Ross was fouled.

Karen Bardsley saved a deflected effort from Marte Berget, before sub Claire Emslie curled home City's third.

Ross then gave them a commanding lead for the second leg with two goals in four minutes, both of them headers.

City marked boss Nick Cushing's birthday by continuing the form which brought them a 6-0 aggregate victory over Austrian side St Polten in the previous round.

It took them time to hit their stride at the Arasen Stadium and England captain Steph Houghton earned an early yellow card for tripping Guro Reiten.

But once Stokes had put them ahead with a left-foot shot after Kvinner failed to clear, they knocked the ball around at will and keeper Bardsley was a virtual spectator for long periods.

Almost an hour had gone when she was called into action by Berget and City soon put the result beyond doubt followed the introduction of Scotland forward Emslie as a substitute.

After scoring superbly, she then hit the bar before Ross' double surely made the home leg on 16 November a formality for City, who reached the semi-finals last year.

Ingrid Kvernvolden flashed a shot inches wide in reply, but that was as close as Kvinner came to a goal despite constant vocal backing from an enthusiastic section of fans.
