Man Utd: Jose Mourinho may allow Henrikh Mkhitaryan to leave

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says "every player has his price", which may pave the way for the January departure of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian playmaker has not started a game since the defeat at Chelsea on 5 November and has not been in the matchday squad for the last four games.

Mkhitaryan became Mourinho's third signing when he joined from Borussia Dortmund for a £30m fee 18 months ago.

But BBC Sport understands there has been a "breakdown of trust".

Speaking before Sunday's trip to West Brom, Mourinho said: "If a player is not happy and brings with the request a number we consider good for us, I would never say no.

"That is my approach as a manager. Every player has a price."

Man Utd's Bailly out for three months

Last January, Mourinho allowed Memphis Depay to join Lyon and Morgan Schneiderlin to move to Everton.

He subsequently released Bastian Schweinsteiger from his contract so he could take up a lucrative offer with Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer.

Defender Luke Shaw is another potential January departure, although the indications have been that the former Southampton player intends to remain at Old Trafford for the rest of the season.

Marouane Fellaini's contract expires at the end of the season and, so far, United's efforts to persuade the Belgian to sign an extension have failed.

However, Mourinho likes the midfielder and selling him is not thought to be an option, particularly as Fellaini knows he can maximise his earnings in the summer if he left for free.

He is a creative player, and creative players don't fit with the way Mourinho plays. He is better off at a club who want to play attacking football.

Not many people we could sign to replace him though are there? Lets be honest, we're not gonna get anyone good in the January market, and if we do it'll cost a fortune... Unless Pereira is recalled from loan?

People are a bit naïve here,,The TRUTH has emerged that Mourinho had a massive row with Miki on the training ground and of course the dreaded ego has raised its ugly head...and jose has got a BIG ego and now wants rid. We've seen the same over the years with Fergie and Beckham/Keane...such a shame as the club its players and its fans all miss out because of these big egos...Im a Utd fan by the way

@7: Just having Pereira back from loan would be good, he's a decent young lad with a future and along with McTominay, Lingard and Rashford I would rather see Utd give them a real chance and not allow JM to blow more money.

am a utd fan. the guy is a quality player, but jose doesn't know how to set up the team to attack. if pogba isn't on , then we revert to long balls.
mikhi would thrive in a ball playing team like arsenal or Liverpool.
we often play direct football which nullifies the creativity of a player miki. mata has also struggled. it isn't just co-incidence that 2 top players struggle, it's the system

And yet Lukaku starts and finishes practically every game, irrespective of performance. How come José doesn't have the objectivity to bad mouth him? José signed Mkhi but has seldom employed his best attributes and now he turns against him, maybe it is the management style that's wrong. The tactics and style of play certainly are, and we've got WBA tomorrow, should be a thriller on current form.
