Arsenal are said to have been suitably impressed with the efforts of West Ham battler Mohamed Diame during last night’s encounter between the two clubs, with Arsene Wenger ready to register his interest in the Senegalese international.

CaughtOffside understands that the 26 year old has a £3.5m release clause written into his Hammers contract which the Gunners are set to trigger.

Diame proved a real handful for much of West Ham’s defeat at the Emirates Stadium and may well be tempted by a move to the north London club.

The former Wigan Athletic man moved to Upton Park on a free transfer in June 2012 and has been a regular in the West Ham first team set-up ever since and is a player who can be picked up for a bargain price so one would imagine Arsenal will not be the only side keen on bringing in the box to box performer.

Wenger is keen to add more steel to the centre of his midfield and the fact that Diame is not only strong in the tackle but also able to push forward and provide a real presence in the final third makes such a move by the Arsenal man all the more likely.

Arsene Wenger is ready to offload injury prone Frenchman Abou Diaby and will listen to offers for veteran Spaniard Mikel Arteta as he seeks to freshen up his midfield.
