Mourinho: Fabregas Not Celebrating Goal Against Arsenal Would Be Nice

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that it would be “nice” for midfielder Cesc Fabregas to refuse to celebrate should he scored against former club Arsenal this weekend.

Fabregas enjoyed eight years at Arsenal between 2003 and 2011, captaining the Gunners towards the end of his stay in North London.

He returned to England this summer, signing for Chelsea in a £30m move from Barcelona.

Fabregas will line up against his old team on Sunday when Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

“Should he score, celebrate or not – I don’t care,” Mourinho told ITV Sport.

“When my team [Inter Milan] scored against Chelsea [in 2010] and my team did three times, two in Milan and one at Stamford Bridge, I didn’t celebrate. I was happy, you can’t imagine how happy I was.

“Not celebrating is nice. Show some respect.”

Fabregas made 305 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s men, scoring 59 goals. He won just one piece of major silverware with Arsenal though – the 2005 FA Cup.

The Spaniard scored his first Chelsea goal in a 1-1 draw with Schalke last month.

He has already provided seven assists in his opening eight games for the Blues.
