The Manchester United legend has laughed off suggestions Chelsea are a great team…
Former Manchester United midfielder and controversial footballing figure Roy Keane has claimed that Chelsea aren’t a great team just yet because they haven’t won enough, as reported in the Daily Mail.

Keane’s comments come after Blues manager Jose Mourinho’s insistence that he has built a great team in an interview with ITV Football.

“The hard work is to build a great team and we are a great team,” Mourinho said.

“We did the hard work, which is to build a great team, now is the unpredictability of football.”

The West Londoners are currently seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, into the last 16 of the Champions League and in the final of the Capital One Cup, but former Republic of Ireland international and Red Devils captain Keane was far from convinced.

“I think they have the potential to be a great team. He’s clearly a great manager but they’ve got to back it up with some trophies,” the 43-year-old said.

“To say they’re a great team at the moment is nonsense.”

Paul Scholes – team-mate and midfield partner of the Irishman – agreed with the comments, stating that to be great, teams must win trophies every year over a period of four or five years.

Chelsea last won silverware in 2013 as they lifted the Europa League under Rafael Benitez.

Keane himself  won seven Premier League titles, four FA Cups and one Champions League at Old Trafford, compared to the Blues’ three Premier League titles and one Champions League, which came in 2012.
