Arsenal linked with last-minute swoop for Brazilian striker after he follows the club on Twitter

Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato has sparked speculation that he could sign for Arsenal before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday by following the club on social media, Standard Sport reports.

The Gunners have been linked with a host of new centre-forwards for the majority of the summer, but manager Arsene Wenger has so far failed in his attempts to bring the likes of Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani to the Emirates Stadium.

With deadline day fast approaching, the Frenchman is reportedly still on the market to bolster his attacking options and after Pato began following the north London outfit’s official Twitter account, rumours will increase that he could become the club’s second signing of the summer.

The former AC Milan star has been plying his trade back home since departing Serie A in 2012 and has managed to steer clear of injuries to record a respectable return of 17 goals in two full seasons with Corinthians and Sao Paulo.
