Jose Mourinho sets sights on fourth Man Utd summer signing, clear weakness to be addressed

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho will reportedly prioritise signing a starting left-back between now and the end of the summer transfer window.

The Portuguese tactician has already swooped for Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku this summer to address three key areas of his squad and build a stronger backbone to his side.

However, having shared minutes between the likes of Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind at left-back, The Daily Record claim that he’s finally ready to find a long-term solution in that department and Tottenham ace Danny Rose is on his radar.

The outspoken England international caused a real stir this week with his interview on his future, although it’s noted that Chelsea and Manchester City are also keen on him and could provide stiff competition for United.

The 27-year-old shocked Spurs by going public on the eve of the new Premier League season with his views on winning trophies and wages, sparking fears that he could have started something of a crisis at Tottenham with others potentially following his lead and looking to earn their real worth elsewhere.

As per this report though, United could hold the advantage in the pursuit of his signature, as Shaw could be added to the deal in a player exchange with the 22-year-old failing to convince Mourinho while he could be welcomed by Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy at Tottenham, with the former previously working with him at Southampton.

It’s added that he’s unlikely to be the only target on Mourinho’s shortlist, but it’s clear that United want to address the problem and doing so could result in a really positive transfer window overall for them as they look to compete for major honours this coming campaign.
