Tottenham face worrying crisis, pay war spirals as squad applaud controversial ace

Tottenham could reportedly have a serious problem on their hands as chairman Daniel Levy is battling a pay crisis at the club after Danny Rose’s criticism of the club.

The 27-year-old caused a real storm with his interview with The Sun on Thursday, as he urged Tottenham to sign top players and revealed that he’s open to offers to leave as he doesn’t believe he’s being paid what he’s worth.

It would certainly have been a shock to all concerned at Spurs to see him go public on the eve of the new Premier League campaign, and The Mirror believe that Levy now has a serious problem on his hands.

While Tottenham will refuse to sell Rose, it’s added in the report that a number of his teammates agreed with him in that they share his belief that they’re undervalued and could earn significantly more elsewhere.

Given the club’s strict wage structure which sees Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris as the biggest earners at around ‘only’ £100,000-a-week, Tottenham are miles behind their rivals with Kyle Walker offered as a prime example following his move to Manchester City earlier this summer.

The England international is now said to be on £180,000-a-week at the Etihad, and that just shows the gulf in what Tottenham pay their players and what they could possibly earn elsewhere.

It seems Rose has sparked a real problematic situation at Spurs now, with The Sun adding that he was applauded by some of his teammates at the training ground with others now threatening to speak out over their concerns on pay.

In contrast to the Mirror report, it’s suggested that Rose could now be sold with Chelsea interested, although he’s unlikely to leave for anything less than the £50m that saw Walker seal an exit.

It’s added that the England international will be fined two weeks wages for his outburst, and a possible exchange with Manchester United for Luke Shaw could be the favoured deal. However, it’s a far from ideal situation as Rose may have opened the floodgates for others to follow.
