Chelsea given massive boost in pursuit of England star as player hands in transfer request to force Blues move

Leicester and England midfielder Danny Drinkwater has handed a transfer request in at the King Power Stadium amid interest from Premier League champions Chelsea, as reported by Sky Sports.

England star Drinkwater, 27, is reportedly eager to secure a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, with the two clubs having failed to agree a deal for the player so far, with a fee of £25M having already been discussed as per Sky Sports.

Sky Sports believe that Leicester do not want to sell Drinkwater, with it set to take an exceptional offer to prise the player away from the Midlands before Thursday’s deadline.

Drinkwater has just recently signed a new four-year deal with the Foxes, however a move to Chelsea would see the Englishman reunite with his former teammate N’Golo Kante, who was his midfielder partner when the Foxes won their first Premier League title in 2016, report Sky Sports.

Should Drinkwater get his way and secure a move to Chelsea before tomorrow’s deadline, it’ll be interesting to see what sort of fee the midfielder commands, as the Blues look to bolster their midfielder for the season ahead.
