Chelsea launch £32m bid for Premier League winner, player told club he wants to leave

Chelsea are lining up a fresh £32m bid for want-away midfielder Danny Drinkwater after the Englishman asked to leave Leicester City earlier this week.

The Sun report that the deal comprises of a £27m initial fee before adds on up to £5m are included.

Leicester have said they are willing to do business but only if they can find a replacement for the 27-year-old.

The Daily Mirror claim the 2015/16 Premier League champions are looking to notch up a deal for Sporting Lisbon’s Adrien Silva should he leave for Stamford Bridge.

BBC Sport reported on Wednesday that Drinkwater had handed in a transfer request following amid interest from Antonio Conte and co.

The defensive midfielder has yet to play for the Foxes this season due to a thigh injury and has thus been left out of the England squad to take on Malta and Slovakia in their World Cup Qualifiers.

 

After losing out to Liverpool in the race of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and now seemingly falling short in the pursuit of Fernando Llorente with Tottenham agreeing a deal for the striker, Chelsea fans will be urging this deal to cross the line before eleven o’clock tonight.
